Underwater Girl Swimming — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1953, this vintage home movie captures an underwater view of a girl swimming in a pool. The footage shows a young woman in a bathing suit moving through turquoise and blue water, with natural light filtering from above. The image is grainy and slightly distorted, with visible film scratches and dust, characteristic of archival Super 8 footage. The scene evokes a nostalgic, summery atmosphere of mid-century recreation and leisure.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s home-movie requests needing an abstract underwater pool insert for recreation, summer memory, or mid-century leisure sequences.
Period detail: The 8mm source and dated Yonkers metadata support a 1953 home-movie context, while the frames themselves mainly show turquoise pool water and film texture.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries an unstaged family-film perspective, observing underwater movement and light rather than a posed or professionally lit swimming scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue-green pool water, soft submerged shapes, surface light, dark frame borders, film scratches, dust specks, and mild color variation.
Film character: The footage has a physical 8mm character with grain, dust, scratches, gate edges, uneven exposure, and soft underwater distortion.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief insert, transition, or memory beat suggesting swimming, summer recreation, or submerged point-of-view imagery.
Historical context: The scene reflects private mid-century leisure through an underwater home-movie view, without visible landmarks, brands, faces, or identifiable property details.
Research note: No identifiable people, logos, or private property are visible in these frames, but copyright, source ownership, and any broader reel context still require review.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1953 8mm underwater pool footage, Yonkers home movie swimming, vintage blue pool water, and mid-century recreation cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers material, then broader pool, swimming, summer, and family recreation scenes.
