Young Pretty Girl Swimming In A Community Pool While — Clip Details

A young girl swims underwater in a community pool, captured on 8mm film in 1953. The footage shows her moving through the blue water, her form visible beneath the surface as she performs a stroke. The image has a distinct vintage quality with grain, color fading, and film scratches typical of home movie footage. The pool's edge appears briefly at the end, confirming the setting. This archival clip offers a nostalgic glimpse into mid-century youth recreation and swimming technique.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s archival requests about public pool recreation, swimming practice, youth leisure, or mid-century home-movie summer activity in Yonkers, New York.
Period detail: The pool setting, color 8mm look, and metadata-supported 1953 date place the scene in early 1950s recreational home-movie footage.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer is filmed casually from above the water, giving the clip an unstaged family or community-pool observation rather than a formal sports record.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, an underwater swimmer, splashing movement, dark hair, a pool edge, film gate borders, grain, and light scratches.
Film character: The clip has saturated blue color, soft focus, visible grain, gate edges, and minor scratches that read as physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, memory beat, or cutaway for mid-century recreation, swimming lessons, summer leisure, or family archive sequences.
Historical context: The footage visually documents everyday pool recreation in a mid-century suburban New York setting without identifying the facility or participants.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos, audible music, or clearly identifiable private property are visible in these frames.
Research search match: Researchers might search for 1953 8mm swimming pool footage, Yonkers home movies, mid-century community pool recreation, or vintage underwater swimmer scenes.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers material, then broader 1950s pool, swimming, and summer recreation footage.
