Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful 1950s 8mm pool recreation footage for documentary or museum edits needing underwater swimming, youth athletics, or midcentury home-movie leisure material.
Period detail: The swim cap, one-piece dark bathing suit, blue pool water, and 8mm color texture may show early-1950s recreational swimming rather than a formal competition setting.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer moves naturally through the water as the camera observes from close range, giving the clip an unstaged home-movie view of pool exercise or play.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an underwater swimmer, white swim cap, dark bathing suit, breaststroke arm movement, kicking legs, blue pool water, bubbles, and film-frame edges.
Film character: The clip has blue-shifted 8mm color, soft underwater focus, visible grain, exposure variation, and gate edges that give the footage clear physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, recreation cutaway, memory beat, or transition within sequences about swimming, childhood leisure, summer activity, or home movies.
Historical context: The footage places swimming and pool recreation within a midcentury home-movie record, showing personal leisure rather than a documented public event.
Research note: A swimmer is visible, so likeness review may be needed even without visible logos, brands, private property, or audible music; copyright status is separate from permissions.
Research search match: Researcher searches may include 1950s 8mm underwater swimming, Yonkers New York pool home movie, swimmer in swim cap, breaststroke footage, and vintage recreation film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent swimming material from the same reel, then with Yonkers or 1953 home movies, then with broader 1950s pool, sports, youth recreation, or summer leisure footage.
