Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Yonkers home-movie pool footage suited to documentary or educational edits about recreation, summer leisure, swimming, and mid-century private-life routines.
Period detail: The white swim cap, dark one-piece-style suit, and 8mm home-movie color may show early-1950s recreational swimming, with the 1953 Yonkers setting supported by clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer moves naturally through the pool as if filmed by a nearby family member or friend, giving the clip an unstaged home-movie view of leisure.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, a woman swimming, a white swim cap, a dark swimsuit, ripples, pool edge glimpses, film grain, and soft motion blur.
Film character: The clip has saturated blue color, visible grain, gate edges, mild exposure variation, and handheld 8mm softness that read as physical-film archive texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, summer transition, recreational cutaway, or memory beat in a sequence about mid-century swimming or family leisure.
Historical context: The footage visually situates ordinary pool recreation within a domestic or local leisure setting, without showing identifiable landmarks, brands, or public events.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness and privacy review may be needed; no logos, music, or clear private-property identifiers are visible, and copyright status should be checked separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s 8mm swimming pool, Yonkers New York home movie, woman in swim cap, vintage pool recreation, and mid-century summer leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers footage, then broader 1950s pool, swimming, summer recreation, and family leisure material.
