A Woman Swimming In A Swimming Pool — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1953, this vintage home movie captures a woman swimming underwater in a pool, her arms extended in a freestyle stroke. The footage has a distinct blue tint and grainy texture characteristic of Super 8 film from the era. The scene evokes a sense of nostalgic leisure and personal memory, preserved in classic 1950s home movie style.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s home-movie requests needing a brief leisure, swimming, or pool-life insert from 8mm footage.
Period detail: The footage may show mid-century recreational swimming, with the 1953 Yonkers metadata and 8mm source providing the main period context.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer is filmed informally underwater or near the surface, giving the scene the casual observation of a family home movie.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, a swimmer in a dark suit, outstretched arms, bubbles, ripples, soft focus, and contact-print frame borders.
Film character: The clip has dense blue color cast, visible grain, soft exposure, and gate-edge darkness typical of small-gauge archival home-movie scans.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short memory beat, leisure cutaway, or transitional insert for mid-century family recreation.
Historical context: The scene reflects private recreational swimming as preserved in home-movie footage, without visible landmarks or identifying public context.
Research note: A person is visible and likeness review may be needed, while copyright and any location or property permissions should be evaluated separately.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1950s 8mm swimming pool home movie, woman swimming underwater, Yonkers New York family footage, and vintage pool leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with 1953 Yonkers material, and then with other 1950s swimming or family recreation scenes.
