Quebec Canada-1952: View Of Art Deco Building Followed By Well-Dressed Man

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills a 1950s Canadian urban architecture slot for documentaries on postwar Quebec or mid-century civic life.

Period detail

Stone facade with stepped upper tiers, arched window row, and decorative frieze suggest early-to-mid twentieth century institutional architecture; man's bow tie and single-breasted suit jacket are consistent with early 1950s dress.

Home-movie behavior

The sequence follows a visitor pattern — panning up at an impressive public building, then stepping aside to be photographed in front of it.

What appears in frame

Large stone building facade, stepped roofline, row of arched windows, decorative cornice, older man in suit and bow tie, background pedestrians, blue sky.

Film character

Saturated color palette with mild grain and slight edge softness typical of 8mm reversal film from the early 1950s.

Edit role

Works as an establishing insert for Quebec or Canadian city scenes, or as a cutaway in a period documentary on postwar urban life.

Historical context

The building's scale and institutional character suggest a civic or commercial landmark; street dress and pedestrian activity reflect everyday public life in early 1950s Quebec.

Research note

The posed man and background pedestrians are identifiable; the building appears to be a public structure, but specific identification should be confirmed before editorial use.

Research search match

Researchers may search for 1950s Quebec city street, vintage Canada urban architecture, early postwar institutional building, or mid-century man portrait 8mm.

Archive pairing path

Pair first with other clips from this reel, then with 1950s Quebec or Montreal street footage, then with mid-century Canadian public life material.
