Old Video Of White House With Cars And Fountain — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1952, this vintage home movie captures the White House in Washington DC, framed by lush green trees. The iconic neoclassical building stands under a bright sky, its flag flying atop the central portico. A fountain sprays water in the foreground, with classic American automobiles from the early 1950s parked along the street. Pedestrians walk near the lawn, and the footage exhibits natural film grain and color shifts typical of Super 8 home movies. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: A 5-second 8mm color clip of the White House north facade circa 1952 suits documentary inserts on mid-century American government, postwar Washington DC, or presidential history segments.
Period detail: Dark-colored rounded-body sedans parked along the foreground street are consistent with early-1950s American automobiles; the active north lawn fountains and neoclassical facade support the stated 1952 date.
Home-movie behavior: A tourist or visitor shot the landmark from street level through roadside trees, capturing an unhurried civilian's-eye view of the White House rather than an official or press perspective.
What appears in frame: White House north portico with columns and pediment, American flag on rooftop, active north lawn fountains, mature trees framing the view, dark sedans parked along the street, small pedestrian figures near the lawn.
Film character: Warm early-color-film palette with natural grain and mild saturation shift; vertical film-edge framing artifacts and slight exposure variation across frames give the footage authentic 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: Works as a documentary insert or establishing cutaway anchoring a segment in early-1950s Washington DC; the static framing also suits a memory-beat dissolve opening a postwar America sequence.
Historical context: The North Lawn fountains and surrounding mature landscape reflect the White House grounds as publicly accessible and visitor-photographed during the early 1950s.
Research note: The White House is a public landmark with no private property concerns; small pedestrian figures appear at a distance likely precluding identification, but standard editorial likeness review is advised.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 'White House 1950s home movie,' 'Washington DC archival 8mm color,' 'postwar America government landmark,' or 'early 1950s presidential building footage.'
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same submitter reel for a Washington DC 1952 set; then with 1950s Capitol Hill or Mall footage; then with postwar American landmark home-movie clips.
