Quebec Canada-1952: Beautiful Adult Peacock Slowly Walking and Pecking Near Classic Car

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

A 5-second 1952 8mm clip of a peacock beside a parked car suits animal inserts or nature cutaways in mid-century documentary and nostalgic editorial productions.

Period detail

The lower body and chrome trim of a dark-coloured car visible in several frames may indicate a late-1940s or early-1950s North American automobile; no other clear period markers are discernible.

Home-movie behavior

The low camera angle and close framing suggest the filmmaker crouched to ground level to follow the bird, reflecting informal amateur curiosity rather than staged wildlife photography.

What appears in frame

Adult peacock with iridescent green-blue tail feathers and eye-spot train, dry leaf-covered gravel, lower section of a dark car with chrome trim, a light-coloured upright post, and dappled natural light.

Film character

Standard 8mm colour stock renders vivid greens and blues in the plumage against warm earthy tones; the characteristic rounded vignette and fine grain are authentic mid-century home-movie texture.

Edit role

Works as a brief animal cutaway or nature insert in a 1950s period documentary; its five-second length suits a single-cut reaction beat between wider location shots.

Historical context

Peacocks kept as ornamental birds at estates, zoos, and public parks were a familiar mid-20th-century attraction in North America; the maintained outdoor setting is consistent with that context.

Research note

No people are visible and the partial car carries no identifiable branding; sourced from home-movie footage — confirm chain-of-title with the rights holder before any commercial use.
