Woods Being Filmed As Person Rides Something Over The — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1979, this vintage home movie captures a scenic forest landscape in Ithaca, New York. The camera moves steadily through a dense woodland, revealing trees in autumn hues of green, yellow, and purple. A power line cuts horizontally across the frame, and the footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color shifts. The final frame shows a dark, blurred shape passing in front of the lens, suggesting the camera was handheld during a ride through the countryside. This archival clip evokes nostalgia and offers authentic period footage for documentaries, editorial content, or historical projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm woodland travel footage from Ithaca, New York, suited to documentary inserts about regional landscapes, autumn scenery, or home-movie movement through rural terrain.
Period detail: The clip may show late-1970s amateur filming through a wooded hillside, with visible power lines and color-shifted 8mm stock supporting the stated 1979 home-movie context.
Home-movie behavior: The moving, slightly obstructed viewpoint suggests an unstaged home-movie ride or handheld pass through countryside rather than a composed landscape study.
What appears in frame: Frames show wooded hillsides, autumn-colored trees, a horizontal power line, a faint road or cleared strip, soft focus, and a dark object crossing near the lens.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm grain, muted magenta-blue color shift, slight blur, and handheld motion that read as authentic physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, transitional landscape insert, or memory beat suggesting travel through upstate New York woods.
Historical context: The visible scene reflects a rural or semi-rural wooded setting around Ithaca, with utility lines and road edges as modest signs of developed countryside.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or readable property identifiers are visible, but copyright and location/property considerations should still be reviewed for intended use.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1979 Ithaca 8mm woods, Super 8 autumn forest drive, upstate New York home movie landscape, and vintage rural tree footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with neighboring shots from the same reel, then other 1979 Ithaca footage, then broader 1970s 8mm woodland or countryside travel scenes.
