Two People in Winter Coats Stand in Forest Near Frozen Lake — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1979, this vintage home movie captures two people in winter attire standing in a wooded area near a frozen lake in Ithaca, New York. One person in a black coat and white hat points toward the trees while the other, wearing a brown coat and white hat, looks on. The scene unfolds on a bright, sunny day with dappled sunlight filtering through the bare branches of tall pines, casting long shadows on the snow-dusted ground. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain and color saturation, evoking a nostalgic, personal memory of a winter outing. The final frame shows a dramatic sun flare through the trees, emphasizing the film's analog quality. Ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic storytelling about 1970s American life.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s home-movie requests needing a quiet winter outdoor moment near a frozen lake for documentary, editorial, museum, or memory-sequence use.
Period detail: The clothing, 8mm color stock, and casual winter outing may show late-1970s personal travel or family filming, supported by the 1979 Ithaca metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged value in two bundled-up people pausing among trees, with one pointing as if directing attention during a private walk.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two adults in winter coats and white hats, bare trees, pine trunks, a frozen lake, snow patches, long shadows, and sun flare.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm texture through visible grain, soft focus, warm color, handheld framing, and a bright flare at the end of the shot.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a winter insert, location cutaway, family-memory beat, or transition from people in landscape to sunlight through trees.
Historical context: The scene gives visual context for a casual cold-weather outing in upstate New York without showing identifiable landmarks or public events.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personality rights.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1979 8mm Ithaca winter lake footage, 1970s home movie forest walk, frozen lake cutaway, and people in coats near trees.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Ithaca 1979 winter footage, then broader 1970s outdoor family or frozen-lake material.
