Ithaca New York-1979: People Hiking Near Lake in Winter Coats

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1970s archival requests needing brief home-movie footage of winter outdoor recreation near a lake in upstate New York.

Period detail

The heavy coats, knit hats, soft 8mm color, and wooded lakeshore setting support a late-1970s home-movie reading without identifying a specific landmark.

Home-movie behavior

The clip preserves an unstaged walk through trees by the water, including one person bending toward the ground as another moves through the frame.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include bundled walkers, pine trunks, leaf-covered ground, blue lake water, bright sun reflection, winter hats, dark coats, and handheld framing.

Film character

The footage has visible 8mm grain, color shift toward blue, soft focus, gate edges, and blown sun glare that give it clear physical-film texture.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a short cutaway, seasonal transition, outdoor memory beat, or reflective insert between broader travel or family-reel scenes.

Historical context

The scene reflects casual cold-weather leisure by a lakeshore, seen through a family-camera perspective rather than a staged travel view.

Research note

People are visible and may require likeness review; no logos, music, or private property are apparent, but copyright and usage rights should be checked separately.
