Several Women In Uniform Walk Out Of The Building Together — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: Several women in dark navy uniforms with caps and gold buttons walk out of a light-colored building, accompanied by a male officer in a double-breasted navy uniform with gold epaulets. The 8mm film footage captures a candid moment of these service members, likely from the Women's Reserve or similar organization, as they move together in a sunlit outdoor setting. The grainy, slightly faded color and natural motion of the Super 8 home movie evoke a strong sense of mid-20th century Americana and historical nostalgia.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s editorial or documentary sequences needing women in uniform and naval-style service personnel outside a building in New York.
Period detail: The dark uniforms, caps, gold buttons and officer's epaulets may show mid-1940s military or civic service dress, supported by the supplied 1947 New York metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The short home-movie view feels candid, with uniformed adults walking, smiling and turning toward one another rather than posing formally.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include women in dark uniforms, peaked caps, a male officer, gold buttons, a light exterior wall, doorway, steps and handrails.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, mild color fading, visible grain, gate edges and slight handheld framing that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, transition or memory beat for wartime-adjacent service, women in uniform or mid-century public life.
Historical context: The footage visually places uniformed women and a decorated male officer together in a formal outdoor setting, without identifying the organization or event.
Research note: Faces are visible and the uniforms may indicate police or military affiliation, so likeness, institutional identification and copyright status should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1947 New York 8mm footage of women in uniform, naval-style officers, service members leaving a building and vintage home movies.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with New York 1947 material, then with related women-in-uniform or military service footage.
