Group Of Military Personnel Leaving Their Base To... — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A group of military personnel, including men and women in formal navy uniforms, exit a building. The footage, shot on 8mm film, captures them walking through a doorway and down a short flight of stairs. The women wear dark uniforms with caps and white collars, while the men are in double-breasted navy jackets with gold buttons. The scene has a warm, slightly faded color palette typical of vintage home movies from the late 1940s, with visible film grain and a handheld camera feel. The mood is formal yet candid, suggesting a routine departure or arrival at a naval facility.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s editorial sequences needing candid naval or military personnel leaving a New York facility in color home-movie footage.
Period detail: The dark formal uniforms, caps, gold buttons, white collars, and modest building entrance may show late-1940s U.S. Navy or related military dress.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged movement as uniformed men and women step through a doorway, glance around, and descend the stairs before the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include uniformed men, uniformed women, caps, a doorway, open double doors, exterior columns, stair railings, and a pale building wall.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, warm faded color, visible grain, gate edges, and handheld framing that preserve the texture of a 1940s home-movie scan.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, departure beat, institutional cutaway, or transition into a story about military service or postwar routines.
Historical context: The clip offers a social view of men and women in formal military attire appearing together outside a facility, without identifying their unit or mission.
Research note: People and faces are visible, and military uniforms may require identity, likeness, context, and copyright review separate from any location assessment.
Research search match: Searches this may match include 1947 New York navy personnel, women in military uniform, 8mm military base departure, and postwar service members footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1947 New York military scenes, then broader 1940s uniformed personnel or naval base footage.
