Military Personnel in Uniform Leaving Building — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A vintage 8mm film clip captures a group of military personnel in formal uniforms exiting a building. A man in a navy officer's double-breasted coat with gold buttons and epaulets walks alongside women in dark uniforms and hats, all smiling. The scene, shot on 8mm film, shows natural movement and authentic period detail, including the crisp white shirts and ties under the dark uniforms. The setting appears to be a government or naval facility, with a plain wall and doorway visible. The footage exudes a sense of post-war camaraderie and official formality, with warm color tones and slight film grain characteristic of home movies from the late 1940s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York archive requests needing uniformed military or naval personnel leaving an official-looking building in color home-movie footage.
Period detail: The dark formal uniforms, peaked caps, gold sleeve bands, white shirts and ties may show postwar naval or military dress details visible in 1947-era footage.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the informal, visitor-shot feel as uniformed adults smile, pause, and move through a doorway without staged ceremony.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include uniformed men and women, peaked caps, gold buttons and sleeve bands, a plain exterior wall, a doorway, handrails, and passing faces.
Film character: The clip has warm color, soft focus, handheld framing, uneven exposure, and visible 8mm grain that read as original physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for postwar service life, official departures, or New York military presence.
Historical context: The scene shows uniformed adults leaving a building together, suggesting formal service culture and social ease without confirming a specific event or institution.
Research note: People and military uniforms are visible, so likeness, identity, and context should be reviewed separately from copyright or source-film licensing.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1947 New York 8mm military personnel, naval officers leaving building, women in uniform, and postwar color home movies.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel scenes, then other 1947 New York footage, then broader clips of uniforms, official buildings, or postwar public life.
