Lynbrook New York-1976: Mom Sitting In A Lawn Chair While We Lean Against The Station Wagon

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves 1970s American domestic life briefs — suburban backyard scenes, family leisure, and Americana for documentary, editorial, or nostalgia-driven commercial projects.

Period detail

Large American station wagon, folding lawn chair, and women's summer clothing (tank top, shorts) are consistent with mid-1970s American suburbia; color film aging aligns with circa 1976.

Home-movie behavior

The camera operator shot through tree branches, capturing an unposed, relaxed family moment from a candid tree-shaded vantage point rather than a staged position.

What appears in frame

Two adult women, a folding lawn chair, a large American station wagon, leafy overhanging tree branches, a grass lawn, driveway surface, and natural dappled summer light.

Film character

Strong blue-purple color shift and visible grain are characteristic of aged 8mm reversal film; handheld camera drift and motion blur in one frame add authentic period texture.

Edit role

Works as a nostalgic insert or memory beat in 1970s Americana sequences; the final wide frame offers a clean establishing cutaway of the full domestic scene.

Historical context

Suburban Long Island backyard leisure in 1976 reflects postwar American family car culture and the informal outdoor lifestyle centered around the family station wagon.

Research note

Two identifiable adult women appear throughout; the station wagon may carry a manufacturer badge not fully legible on screen; likeness rights and any brand ID should be confirmed before broadcast use.
