Female Child Swimming In The Pool Doing A Wall Flip — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1953, this vintage home movie captures a young girl swimming in a pool, her body gliding through the water in a classic freestyle stroke. The footage, filmed in Yonkers, New York, shows her executing a wall flip with a splash, her dark swimsuit contrasting against the blue water. The grainy, color-bleached aesthetic and soft focus evoke a nostalgic, mid-century American summer. The clip includes both surface and underwater views, with bubbles and ripples adding texture. A second swimmer appears in the background, suggesting a casual family or community pool outing. The film’s natural imperfections and blue tint highlight its archival quality, perfect for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic storytelling.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s American home-movie requests needing pool swimming, youth recreation, or summer leisure footage for documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The clip may show mid-century pool recreation through the 8mm color stock, simple swimwear, and informal filming style supported by the 1953 Yonkers metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes swimmers from a family or visitor perspective, emphasizing casual movement, splashing, and an unstaged wall-turn swimming moment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, swimmers at the surface, underwater views, dark swimsuits, bubbles, ripples, and film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has blue-shifted color, soft focus, visible grain, exposure variation, and contact-print framing that signal original small-gauge film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, summer memory beat, recreation cutaway, or transition between broader family and community leisure scenes.
Historical context: The scene reflects everyday pool activity in archival home-movie form, with children or young swimmers shown practicing and playing rather than posing.
Research note: People are visible and at least one swimmer appears young, so likeness and minor-status review may be needed separate from any copyright assessment.
Research search match: Search matches include 1953 8mm pool swimming, Yonkers New York home movie, girl swimmer wall turn, underwater pool footage, and vintage summer recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Yonkers or 1953 New York home movies, then broader 1950s swimming pool and summer recreation footage.
