Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s home-movie requests needing suburban summer swimming, backyard leisure, or pool recreation footage for documentary, museum, education, or editorial sequences.
Period detail: The 8mm color home-movie look, dark one-piece swimsuit, pool coping, and simple depth marking support a mid-century recreational setting in Yonkers, New York.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged swimmer moving across a pool while another person remains near the edge, giving the scene casual family-leisure value.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include turquoise pool water, a swimmer in a dark swimsuit, white pool coping, a depth marker, partial poolside figure, water ripples, and film gate edges.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, color shift, uneven exposure, and contact-sheet framing give the footage the texture of scanned 1950s amateur 8mm film.
Edit role: Editors can use it as a brief insert, summer memory beat, recreation cutaway, or transition within sequences about leisure, family life, swimming, or postwar suburbia.
Historical context: The scene shows private recreational swimming as captured by a home-movie camera, with social context limited to visible poolside leisure rather than any broader claim.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos or music are apparent, but copyright, privacy, and property permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1950s 8mm swimming pool footage, Yonkers home movie pool scene, vintage backyard swimming, mid-century summer leisure, and archival family recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers material, then related 1950s home-movie scenes of pools, summer leisure, and family recreation.
