Chained Chimpanzee in Zoo Enclosure — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1952, this vintage home movie captures a chimpanzee chained inside an enclosure at a zoo or animal exhibit in Quebec, Canada. The primate, with dark fur, reaches upward and shifts its weight on a metal grate platform, its chain visible around its neck. The scene is viewed through a barrier, with greenery and fencing in the background under bright daylight. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color fading, and slight camera shake, evoking a nostalgic, archival feel. This raw, unedited clip offers a poignant glimpse into mid-century animal captivity and home movie documentation.
