Kansas USA-1958: A Green Field With A Tree And A Cross With A Blue Car On This

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or editorial requests for authentic 1950s rural American Midwest footage; useful for memory sequences, social history segments, and mid-century small-town or farm life inserts.

Period detail

A dark-bodied sedan in frame 3 appears consistent with a mid-1950s American model; flat open plains, overcast light, and modest outbuildings support a rural Midwest setting circa 1958.

Home-movie behavior

The camera shoots from behind a window, suggesting the filmmaker was an indoor observer capturing an unstaged outdoor scene — a candid domestic viewpoint rather than a posed exterior portrait.

What appears in frame

Flat overcast plains, window-frame vignette, heavy vertical film scratches, faint horizon structure, a crouching figure near a wooden post, a dark 1950s sedan, two adults in coats, and a red outbuilding.

Film character

Strong vertical scratches, washed-out pale exposure in early frames, and coarse 8mm grain give the footage authentic mid-century texture; muted color returns only in the final shot.

Edit role

Best used as a contemplative insert or memory beat; the sparse windowed framing suits transitions between interior and exterior scenes in a 1950s Americana sequence.

Historical context

The flat open landscape, modest outbuildings, and period car are consistent with mid-century rural Great Plains life; the window-framed perspective may reflect ordinary domestic observation.

Research note

Two adults appear potentially identifiable in the final frame; likeness rights cannot be assumed and clearance research is advised before commercial use; no audible music or brand marks noted.
