Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm home-movie footage useful for documentary requests needing a scenic Utah marina, mountain-lake recreation, or travel-observation insert from the Salt Lake City area.
Period detail: The clothing, small sailboats, wooden dock, handheld filming, and saturated 8mm color support the supplied 1973 home-movie context without showing a specific identifiable landmark.
Home-movie behavior: A lone adult visitor stands on rocky ground and looks toward the marina through binoculars, giving the clip an unstaged vacation-observation quality.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a plaid-shirted man, binoculars, rocky shoreline, docked sailboats, tall masts, a wooden pier, blue sky, and broad snow-capped mountains.
Film character: The clip has the tactile look of scanned 8mm film, with soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, saturated blues, and gentle handheld framing.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a scenic cutaway, travel transition, recreational-lake insert, or quiet memory beat between broader Utah landscape sequences.
Historical context: The footage visually places leisure boating and tourism against a dramatic mountain setting, reflecting a private home-movie view rather than an official travelogue or news record.
Research note: One adult person is visible mostly from behind, so likeness review may still be needed even though no clear logos, children, private interiors, or audible music are indicated.
Research search match: Researchers might find this clip through searches for 1970s 8mm Utah marina footage, Salt Lake City area sailboats and mountains, home movie mountain lake, or snow-capped mountain boating scene.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1973 Salt Lake City or Utah mountain-lake footage, then broader 1970s travel, sailing, and scenic landscape material.
