Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s Pacific Northwest travel, leisure, lake excursion, and home-movie sequences needing authentic 8mm vacation footage.
Period detail: The passengers' hats, sunglasses, coat, and casual boat-deck seating may show late-1930s recreational travel style, supported by the 1939 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has an unstaged vacation perspective, watching a steamboat on the lake and lingering on passengers enjoying the ride.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a boat wake on blue water, rocky mountain slopes, seated passengers, bright hats, a woman in sunglasses, railings, and sunlit lake spray.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, faded color, gate edges, and handheld exposure shifts that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, travel transition, lake excursion cutaway, or memory beat in a regional-history sequence.
Historical context: The clip visually places leisure travel on Lake Chelan within a mountain landscape without making claims beyond the home-movie record and supplied 1939 location metadata.
Research note: People are visible and at least one face is readable, so copyright review should be separate from likeness and contextual-use assessment.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1939 8mm Lake Chelan home movie, Washington lake steamboat footage, vintage mountain lake travel, and prewar vacation boat ride.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel Chelan travel scenes, then other 1939 Washington lake footage, then broader vintage boat excursion or mountain vacation material.
