Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s Oakland, California archive requests needing an 8mm title-card insert for Lake Merritt wildlife refuge or feeding-time context.
Period detail: The typewritten title card and 8mm frame texture support the supplied 1937 home-movie dating and identify Lake Merritt in Oakland, California.
Home-movie behavior: The clip reflects a home-movie practice of filming an explanatory title card before the visible subject, giving later viewers orientation for a wildlife-refuge sequence.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include white typewritten text, a dark textured card, Lake Merritt wording, Oakland California location text, feeding-time wording, film borders, and frame flicker.
Film character: The footage has coarse 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, gate shadowing, and slight frame-to-frame instability consistent with scanned physical home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a title-card insert, location setup, transition into Lake Merritt wildlife footage, or archival memory beat for a 1930s sequence.
Historical context: The card visually places the following material around a wild game refuge at Lake Merritt, but it should not be treated as evidence of specific animals or events by itself.
Research note: No people, logos, or private interiors are visible, but users should still review source copyright status and any adjacent reel content separately from likeness or property issues.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1937 Oakland 8mm title card, Lake Merritt wild game refuge, California home movie sign, and feeding time archival footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1937 Oakland or Lake Merritt material, then with wildlife refuge, bird feeding, or conservation-themed footage.
