Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s documentary edits needing a concise title-card reference to Lake Merritt's wild game refuge in Oakland, California.
Period detail: The typewritten-style lettering, 8mm frame texture, and stated 1937 metadata support a late-1930s home-movie title card identification.
Home-movie behavior: The card reflects a home-movie maker organizing a visit around a simple event, feeding time at the refuge.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include white title lettering, dark textured film background, Lake Merritt and Oakland place text, and repeated 8mm contact-sheet frames.
Film character: The footage has heavy grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, and slight frame-edge darkness consistent with scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as an identifying insert, chapter break, or transition into wildlife, park, or Oakland historical material.
Historical context: The wording places the scene at Lake Merritt's wild game refuge and frames feeding time as the subject without showing animals or visitors in these stills.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but copyright status and any location-related permissions should still be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1937 8mm Oakland footage, Lake Merritt wild game refuge title card, and California wildlife refuge home movies.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel footage, then other 1937 Oakland or Lake Merritt material, then broader wildlife refuge and feeding-time scenes.
