Forest At Night With Silhouetted Trees — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this clip captures a dark, atmospheric forest scene at night in Yellowstone Wyoming. The footage features deep blue and purple tones with visible film grain and slight motion blur, suggesting handheld camera movement. Silhouetted trees dominate the frame, their branches creating intricate patterns against the dimly lit sky. The low-light conditions produce a moody, nostalgic ambiance, characteristic of vintage home movie footage from the era. This archival clip offers a rare glimpse into a quiet, natural landscape under the night sky.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s nature or travel edits needing a short nighttime Yellowstone forest cutaway from 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The visible clues are mainly the 8mm color stock, low-light exposure, and handheld framing; the 1967 Yellowstone setting is supported by clip metadata rather than distinct landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot quality, with the camera lingering on dark tree silhouettes and blue night sky rather than staging a planned scenic view.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include silhouetted evergreen branches, dark tree trunks, a dim blue-purple sky, soft hillside forms, film grain, and motion blur.
Film character: The footage carries dense 8mm grain, underexposed blue-purple color, soft focus, and slight handheld smear that read as physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a nighttime transition, memory beat, nature insert, or atmospheric cutaway within a Yellowstone or 1960s travel sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects a quiet outdoor tourist or home-movie observation of Yellowstone at night, with no visible people, vehicles, buildings, or signage.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but copyright and archive-license status should still be checked separately from likeness or property concerns.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1967 Yellowstone 8mm forest at night, vintage home movie silhouetted trees, and 1960s Wyoming nature footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other 1967 Yellowstone or Wyoming material, then broader 1960s nighttime forest and travel-home-movie scenes.
