A Dark Tree Silhouette Against a Blue Twilight Sky — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a serene landscape at Yellowstone Wyoming. The camera pans slowly across a dark evergreen tree on the left, its silhouette stark against a deep blue twilight sky. Faint clouds drift across the horizon over a calm body of water, creating a moody, atmospheric scene. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color shifts, with a strong blue tint and soft focus, evoking a nostalgic, dreamlike quality. This archival clip is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic storytelling about mid-century American nature.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s archival requests for Yellowstone-area nature atmosphere, twilight landscape inserts, and non-human scenic material for documentary or editorial use.
Period detail: The footage may show a 1967 visitor-shot landscape, with period clues coming mainly from the 8mm format, blue color shift, soft focus, and handheld framing.
Home-movie behavior: The clip reflects an unstaged home-movie habit of lingering on a quiet sky, tree silhouette, and distant water rather than recording a formal landmark view.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include dark evergreen branches, a vertical tree trunk, deep blue twilight sky, faint low clouds, a distant horizon, and calm water or reflective open space.
Film character: The scan has pronounced 8mm grain, soft focus, blue color cast, low-light exposure, and slight frame instability that give the scene a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a moody cutaway, transition, memory beat, or atmospheric insert within a Yellowstone, road-trip, or mid-century nature sequence.
Historical context: The scene places the viewer in a quiet outdoor setting associated with Yellowstone travel, without visible people, vehicles, signage, or identifiable built features.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but copyright, location verification, and broader production clearance should still be reviewed by the buyer.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1967 Yellowstone 8mm twilight landscape, blue sky tree silhouette home movie, vintage Wyoming nature footage, and 1960s lake horizon cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent frames from the same reel, then with other 1967 Yellowstone or Wyoming scenic clips, then with broader vintage national park twilight landscapes.
