Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests needing late-1950s 8mm exterior footage of modern residential architecture in small-town Kansas for documentary, education, or period-setting edits.
Period detail: The flat roofline, long balcony railings, elevated siting, bare trees, and saturated 8mm color may show a mid-century residential design photographed in 1959.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot, observational feel, with the camera slowly scanning the hillside house rather than staging action or directing people.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white elevated house, red and stone lower walls, balcony railings, rocky hillside, bare tree branches, blue sky, and neighboring structures.
Film character: The footage carries dense 8mm grain, deep blue color shift, soft focus, slight handheld movement, and high-contrast winter light as part of its archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short architectural cutaway, place-setting insert, transition into a home or town sequence, or quiet memory beat.
Historical context: The view documents a modern-looking house set into a rocky slope, offering visual context for postwar residential forms without identifying the property or occupants.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are visible or indicated, but exterior private-property and copyright status should still be reviewed for intended use.
Research search match: Researcher matches include 1959 Kansas 8mm home movie house exterior, mid-century hillside residence, Saint Francis Kansas architecture, and vintage small-town residential footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1959 Saint Francis exteriors, then broader mid-century home, hillside neighborhood, and Kansas town footage.
