Family Of Three Enjoying Summer Day In Backyard Pool — Clip Details

INDIANA-1959: A vintage 8mm home movie captures a family enjoying a sunny day in their backyard swimming pool. A woman in a white swim cap and a man in a dark swimsuit relax in the water, using inflatable rings. They interact with a young boy, sharing smiles and conversation. The footage, shot on 8mm film, shows characteristic grain, color shifts, and a slightly faded quality, evoking a nostalgic 1950s American summer. The pool is surrounded by green hedges and a potted plant, with a roll of toilet paper visible on the edge. This authentic archival footage is ideal for documentaries, nostalgic content, or history educators.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s Indiana home-movie footage suited to documentary or educational requests for postwar family leisure, backyard swimming, and informal summer recreation.
Period detail: The clip may show late-1950s domestic leisure through swim caps, inflatable rings, a small backyard pool, hedges, and casual family interaction filmed on 8mm.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged poolside behavior, with adults floating, talking, smiling, and moving naturally in a family backyard setting.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three adults in a swimming pool, a white swim cap, dark inflatable rings, rippling blue water, hedges, a potted plant, and a roll on the pool edge.
Film character: The 8mm scan carries soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, blue-purple shifts, and handheld home-movie framing that support its archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, or transitional cutaway for midcentury family life, summer leisure, or backyard recreation.
Historical context: The footage reflects informal American domestic recreation in a private-looking backyard pool, without supporting claims about the family's identity or the exact property.
Research note: People and recognizable faces are visible, so copyright review should be separated from likeness and any property-related permissions before publication.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1950s Indiana backyard pool home movie, 8mm family swimming footage, vintage summer leisure, and midcentury backyard recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Indiana 1959 family footage, then with broader 1950s home movies of swimming, summer, and backyard leisure.
