Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports requests for late-1950s American home-movie footage of family recreation, backyard swimming, and informal summer leisure for documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The footage may show 1950s swimwear, an inner tube used as a pool float, and a backyard pool setting consistent with the supplied 1959 Indiana metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmers appear relaxed and aware of the camera, with casual floating, smiling, and swimming that reads as unstaged family home-movie behavior.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include adult swimmers, black inner tubes, a backyard swimming pool, blue-green water, pool coping, surrounding greenery, and a white potted plant.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, blue color cast, visible grain, mild exposure variation, and handheld framing that preserve the texture of scanned home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short memory beat, summer recreation insert, family-life cutaway, or transition within a sequence about midcentury domestic leisure.
Historical context: The clip gives visual context for private recreational swimming and family leisure in a suburban-looking American setting without establishing broader social claims.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; copyright, privacy, and any property considerations should be assessed separately before use.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1959 Indiana home movie swimming pool, 1950s family pool footage, 8mm backyard swimming, and vintage summer recreation film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Indiana or 1959 home movies, then with broader clips of family swimming, backyard leisure, or summer recreation.
