A Man Walks By A Large Artificial Pond In Front Of A House — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1949, this vintage home movie captures a man in light-colored clothing walking along the edge of a large artificial pond in Santa Cruz, California. The scene features a white house with a sloped roof, lush green trees, and a metal railing bordering the water. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s California home-movie requests needing a quiet residential pond or garden cutaway with a lone passerby.
Period detail: The 8mm color footage may show mid-century railings, pond landscaping, and modest residential architecture in Santa Cruz.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the casual, unstaged glimpse of a man walking beside the water from a home-movie vantage point.
What appears in frame: Visible details include a large artificial pond, metal railings, paved edge, white house, trees, reflections, and a small walking figure.
Film character: Soft focus, mild grain, gentle color fading, and slight gate artifacts give the scan a period 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a calm establishing insert, memory beat, or transitional cutaway for postwar California domestic leisure.
Historical context: The scene suggests a maintained residential or recreational water feature without supporting any specific institutional or landmark claim.
Research note: A person and house-like structures appear, so likeness and property context should be reviewed separately from footage copyright status.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1949 Santa Cruz 8mm pond footage, vintage California home movie water feature, and man walking by pond.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Santa Cruz 1949 material, then broader vintage pond, house, and garden footage.
