Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports archival requests for 1930s Canadian lake recreation, usable as a brief home-movie insert in documentaries, education programs, or period leisure sequences.
Period detail: The black-and-white 8mm image and simple bathing suit may show late-1930s leisure clothing and amateur filming practices at a Canadian lake.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer appears relaxed and aware of the camera at moments, giving the clip an unstaged family-record quality rather than a performed sporting scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an adult male swimmer, open lake water, small splashes, rippled surface texture, dark frame edges, and contact-print divisions.
Film character: The clip has pronounced 8mm grain, soft focus, mild exposure variation, and steady handheld framing that read as authentic physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short memory beat, recreation cutaway, lake-life insert, or transition into a broader 1930s leisure or family-history sequence.
Historical context: The footage documents casual outdoor swimming as recorded in a private home movie, with no visible signage, landmarks, or public event context in these frames.
Research note: A recognizable adult face appears, so likeness review may be needed; no logos, music, or private property are visible, and copyright clearance is separate from depiction rights.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1939 Canada home movie swimming, Long Lake vintage bathing suit, 8mm lake recreation, and 1930s family leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent material from the same reel, then with Long Lake or 1939 Canadian footage, and then with broader vintage swimming or summer recreation scenes.
