Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s Canadian home-movie lake recreation footage for documentary, museum, education, or commercial edits needing a brief swimming scene.
Period detail: The visible 8mm monochrome image, simple swimwear, and metadata-supported 1939 Long Lake setting place the scene within late-1930s leisure footage.
Home-movie behavior: An older man swims casually near the camera, turning his face above the water in an unstaged family-film moment.
What appears in frame: The frames show an older male swimmer, calm lake surface, ripples, splashing water, dark film-frame edges, and a small floating dock in the distance.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, uneven exposure, gate edges, and slight handheld framing that read as original home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, summer recreation cutaway, lakeside memory beat, or transition within a 1930s family-life sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents informal outdoor swimming at a Canadian lake without visible crowds, signage, or public-event context.
Research note: A visible adult face may require likeness review, while copyright and any location permissions should be checked separately from the absence of logos.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1939 Long Lake Canada home movie, older man swimming in lake, 8mm lake recreation, and 1930s Canadian summer leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with 1939 Long Lake material, then with Canadian lake recreation or home-movie swimming scenes.
