Group Of Women In Military Uniforms Walking Through A... — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A group of women in dark military uniforms and caps walk in formation across a paved lot, likely a parking area, with residential buildings and utility poles in the background. The footage, shot on 8mm film, shows a mix of female personnel and a few male officers in formal navy-style uniforms with gold buttons and insignia. The subjects move from left to right, some smiling, captured with the characteristic grain and color saturation of mid-century home movies. This archival clip offers a rare glimpse into post-war military life and women's roles in the armed forces.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York documentary edits needing postwar uniformed women and naval-style personnel moving through an outdoor paved lot.
Period detail: The caps, dark coats, gold-buttoned naval-style uniforms, parked-lot setting, utility poles, and low residential buildings support a late-1940s military or service gathering context.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has an unstaged home-movie feel as uniformed personnel walk toward and past the camera, with some faces turning casually and smiling.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include women in dark caps and coats, male officers in gold-trimmed uniforms, a paved lot, utility poles, low buildings, bare trees, and soft winter light.
Film character: The 8mm color scan shows grain, slight blur, gate edges, warm saturation, and handheld framing that preserve the texture of original mid-century home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or contextual cutaway for women in uniform, postwar service life, or outdoor military movement.
Historical context: The scene visually suggests organized uniformed personnel in a public or institutional outdoor setting, with women prominently present alongside male officers.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and military-context review may be needed; copyright status is separate from any personal or institutional rights analysis.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1947 New York 8mm military women walking, postwar women in uniform home movie, and naval-style officers outdoor footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel uniformed scenes, then other New York 1947 exterior footage, then broader 1940s military and women-in-service material.
