Women in Military Uniforms Standing in Formation — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A group of women in dark blue military-style uniforms and hats stand in formation outdoors. Their uniforms feature light blue collars, black ties, and white insignia, with some smiling while others maintain serious expressions. The footage, shot on 8mm film, shows a slightly grainy, color-tinted quality with natural lighting, capturing a moment of camaraderie and discipline. The background reveals a paved area with distant buildings and a vintage car, evoking a strong sense of mid-20th century American history and women's roles in service during the post-war era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York archival requests needing women in uniform, postwar service imagery, or disciplined group formation footage for documentary and educational edits.
Period detail: The dark blue uniforms, peaked hats, ties, collar insignia, paved open area, distant low buildings, and vintage car support a mid-1940s service or training setting.
Home-movie behavior: The women hold formation while several glance toward the camera, creating an informal home-movie record of posture, personality, and group discipline.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include women in matching dark uniforms, light blue collars, black ties, white insignia, peaked hats, paved grounds, low buildings, and a distant car.
Film character: The 8mm color footage has soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, and contact-sheet framing that preserve the texture of a small-gauge home-movie scan.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a brief insert, identity cutaway, postwar service reference, or memory beat between broader scenes about women, work, or uniformed life.
Historical context: The clip visually documents women gathered in organized uniformed formation in postwar New York, without enough evidence to identify their unit or event.
Research note: Faces are visible and military-style uniforms appear; copyright, likeness, and institutional identification should be reviewed separately before sensitive use.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1947 New York 8mm women in military uniforms, women in formation, postwar service home movie, and vintage uniformed women footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with New York 1947 material, and then with broader women-in-uniform or postwar service themes.
