Women in Military Uniforms Standing in Formation Outside — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1947: A group of six young women in matching dark military-style uniforms stand in a precise line formation outdoors. Each woman wears a black coat, a blue collared shirt, and a dark hat, with a serious expression as they face the camera. The scene, captured on 8mm film, shows a slightly overcast sky and a background of distant buildings and utility poles. The footage has a distinct vintage quality with soft focus and film grain, characteristic of a home movie from the late 1940s. The women remain stationary throughout the 5-second clip, suggesting a formal portrait or training moment.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for productions seeking late-1940s New York home-movie footage of women in uniformed formation for documentary, museum, education, or historical montage use.
Period detail: The dark coats, brimmed hats, blue collars, parked cars, open roadside setting, and utility poles support a late-1940s institutional or military-style outdoor portrait.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the direct home-movie pose, with the women standing still for the camera as if marking a training, service, school, or organizational moment.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include six uniformed women, dark coats, brimmed hats, blue collars, paved ground, parked vehicles, utility poles, and distant low buildings.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, slight gate framing, muted color, and small exposure shifts that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, identification cutaway, era-establishing beat, or transition into a sequence about women, service, training, or postwar public life.
Historical context: The clip shows a formal line of young women in matching military-style dress, offering visual context for gendered uniformed organizations in postwar American public spaces.
Research note: People are clearly visible and uniforms may imply institutional affiliation, so likeness and contextual use should be reviewed separately from any film copyright assessment.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1947 New York women in military-style uniforms, 1940s women standing in formation, 8mm home movie uniformed women, or postwar outdoor group portrait.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with New York 1947 material, and then with clips showing women in uniform, outdoor formations, or postwar civic scenes.
