14th Station Of The Cross And Jesus In The Tomb — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1965, this vintage home movie captures a solemn religious scene from San Luis Colorado. The clip opens on a wooden sign marking the 14th Station of the Cross, reading 'Jesus is laid in the tomb,' set against a stone wall. The scene transitions to a dramatic, dimly lit depiction of a figure lying in a tomb, draped in purple and gray linens, evoking the burial of Christ. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color saturation, with a contemplative, reverent mood. This archival clip offers authentic religious imagery for documentaries, historical projects, or nostalgic content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a religious cutaway of the 14th Station of the Cross and a tomb tableau.
Period detail: The wooden devotional sign, painted stone setting, saturated color, and 8mm frame texture support a mid-1960s visitor-filmed religious display.
Home-movie behavior: The camera records the scene as a visitor would encounter it, moving from the station marker to the dimly lit tomb display without staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a wooden Station XIV sign, stone wall texture, painted backdrop, dark tomb recess, draped purple linens, and a sculptural figure.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, soft focus, high color saturation, dark exposure in the tomb scene, and slight handheld framing.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a solemn insert, devotional transition, or memory beat within sequences about Catholic ritual, pilgrimage, or religious display.
Historical context: The clip documents a mid-century home-movie view of Christian devotional imagery, centered on the burial of Christ rather than a public ceremony.
Research note: No living people, faces, logos, or brands are visible, but religious subject matter and possible site display rights should be reviewed separately from copyright.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1965 8mm Station of the Cross, Jesus laid in tomb display, San Luis Colorado religious home movie, and vintage Catholic devotional footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then San Luis Colorado 1965 material, then other Stations of the Cross or religious tableau clips.
