Pietà Sculpture of Mary Holding Jesus — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1965, this vintage home movie captures a poignant stone sculpture of the Pietà in San Luis Colorado. The white marble carving depicts Mary cradling the body of Jesus, with visible wounds on his head and purple stains on the fabric. The scene is set against a dark rock face, with the film's characteristic grain and color shifts enhancing its nostalgic, archival quality. This religious artwork is presented in a quiet, reverent moment, ideal for documentary, editorial, or historical content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1965 8mm footage of a Pieta sculpture in San Luis, Colorado, supports documentary or educational requests for mid-century religious imagery and devotional art cutaways.
Period detail: The 8mm color, soft exposure, and home-movie framing support a 1960s period feel, while the sculpture itself appears timeless rather than date-specific.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot perspective, holding close on the religious sculpture with small framing shifts rather than staging or narrated presentation.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include Mary cradling Jesus, red marks on Jesus' head, purple staining on fabric, pale carved stone, dark rock behind the figures, and black film edges.
Film character: The scan carries soft 8mm grain, slight color drift, uneven exposure, and contact-print edge darkness that give the brief view a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a contemplative insert, religious cutaway, transition into Catholic context, or quiet memory beat in a historical sequence.
Historical context: The footage visually documents Catholic devotional sculpture through a 1960s home-movie lens without confirming a specific shrine, artist, or public monument.
Research note: No people, children, logos, or music are indicated, but artwork copyright, site permissions, and property context should be reviewed separately from likeness issues.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1965 8mm Pieta sculpture, San Luis Colorado religious statue, Mary holding Jesus home movie, and Catholic devotional art footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then San Luis or Colorado material from 1965, then broader religious sculpture and Catholic devotional footage.
