Stone Statue of Mother Mary Holding Jesus — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1965, this vintage home movie captures a poignant stone statue of Mother Mary cradling Jesus in a tender embrace. The white marble sculpture, marked with purple stains and red lines on Jesus' forehead, stands against a dark rock face. The footage, with its characteristic film grain and warm color palette, offers a nostalgic glimpse of religious art from a mid-century American home movie collection.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie cutaway for documentaries needing religious sculpture, devotional art, or travel-view material from San Luis, Colorado.
Period detail: The clip shows mid-century color 8mm footage of a stone Pieta-style statue, with visible grain, warm exposure, and home-movie framing supporting the 1965 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The footage carries a visitor-shot perspective, lingering closely on the statue rather than staging people or ceremony.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a hooded Mary figure, the reclining Jesus figure, pale stone or marble surface, red forehead marks, purple staining, dark rock background, and contact-print frame edges.
Film character: The scan has pronounced 8mm grain, slight color shift, dark edge falloff, and gentle handheld reframing that read as physical-film archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a devotional-art insert, reflective transition, memory beat, or cutaway within a sequence on religion, travel, or family pilgrimage.
Historical context: The statue reflects Catholic devotional imagery seen through a private home-movie lens, without visible worshippers, signage, or ceremony in these frames.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but sculpture copyright, site permissions, and religious-context sensitivity may still require review.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1960s 8mm religious statue, San Luis Colorado Mary Jesus sculpture, vintage home movie Catholic art, and Pieta-style stone figure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel travel or religious shots, then San Luis 1965 material, then broader 1960s devotional sculpture or Catholic-site footage.
