Stone Crucifix on Rocky Hillside — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1965, this vintage home movie captures a white stone statue of Jesus on the cross, set outdoors against a backdrop of trees and a pale sky. The footage, likely from a religious site in San Luis Colorado, shows the crucifixion sculpture mounted on a large rock with natural foliage surrounding it. The image exhibits classic Super 8 film characteristics—soft focus, warm color tones, and subtle grain—evoking a nostalgic, contemplative mood. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie footage suited to documentary, education, or commercial edits needing a quiet religious monument cutaway in rural Colorado.
Period detail: The frame may show mid-1960s color reversal 8mm exposure and a visitor view of an outdoor crucifix statue, with no visible signage to confirm a landmark.
Home-movie behavior: The clip reflects a visitor-shot perspective, holding steadily on a devotional sculpture rather than staging action or formal ceremony.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white crucified Jesus statue, dark wooden cross, large rock or stone backing, trees, branches, pale sky, and film-frame edges.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, slight color shift, and contact-print framing give the scan a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a contemplative insert, religious-context cutaway, memory beat, or transition into material about faith, travel, or regional place.
Historical context: The footage documents how a religious outdoor sculpture appeared to a home-movie camera in 1965 without proving the site name, event, or ownership.
Research note: No living people, children, logos, or audible music are indicated, but religious subject matter, copyright, site ownership, and property permissions may still need review.
Research search match: Search matches include 1965 8mm Colorado religious monument, San Luis crucifix statue home movie, outdoor Jesus cross footage, and vintage devotional sculpture cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with San Luis or Colorado 1965 footage, then with broader 1960s religious-site and roadside shrine material.
