Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful 1940s home-movie footage for productions needing a brief prom or formal youth gathering scene in Joliet, Illinois.
Period detail: Formal gowns, corsages, pinned flowers, curled hairstyles, and tuxedo details support the early-1940s social-event setting described in the clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the informal posing, smiling, waving, and crowding together for the camera rather than a staged studio portrait.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include young women in formal dresses, a young man in a tuxedo, corsages, floral hair pieces, a plain interior wall, and soft handheld framing.
Film character: The 8mm image has soft focus, visible grain, faded color, uneven exposure, and slight frame instability that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a memory insert, social-history cutaway, or transition beat for youth culture, school dances, or wartime-era home life.
Historical context: The footage shows a formal social gathering with teenagers or young adults presenting themselves to a home camera in early-1940s dress.
Research note: Faces are visible, so likeness and privacy review may be needed; no logos or private property details are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Searches such as 1940s prom home movie, Joliet Illinois formal dance, young women corsages 8mm, or vintage school dance footage may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Joliet 1941 material, then with other 1940s prom, school dance, or formal youth gathering footage.
