Two Men Standing Near Classic Land Rover On Mountain Road — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures two men standing beside a classic green and white Land Rover on a narrow mountain road in Calcutta, India. One man in a dark coat and hat walks away while another in light-colored clothing leans against the vehicle. The rugged terrain and rocky hillside frame the scene, with a brief glimpse of a village structure in the final frame. The footage exhibits natural film grain and the authentic look of a mid-century travel recording.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Suitable for 1960s India documentary, travel, or post-colonial history productions requiring authentic period vehicle and mountain road footage.
Period detail: An early-series Land Rover with a two-tone green-and-white finish and visible front number plate suggests early 1960s; stacked roadside timber logs and narrow tarmac road reinforce the era.
Home-movie behavior: The two men pause beside the vehicle facing the camera, giving the clip the candid quality of a travel companion recording a journey stop rather than a staged scene.
What appears in frame: Dark green and white Series Land Rover, two men in casual dress, narrow paved mountain road, rocky grass-covered hillside, stacked timber logs, vehicle front plate, and a corrugated-metal roadside structure in the final frame.
Film character: 8mm color stock shows a warm, slightly faded palette with visible grain, soft edge definition, and natural daylight exposure consistent with handheld amateur travel recording.
Edit role: Functions as a cutaway or travel-log insert in a 1960s South Asia documentary, or as a period vehicle detail shot within a broader mountain journey sequence.
Historical context: Early-series Land Rovers were widely used across South Asia for mountain and rural travel in the early 1960s; the rocky hillside terrain may indicate hill districts rather than the city of Calcutta proper.
Research note: Two identifiable adult faces visible in frames 0–2; Land Rover brand identifiable by vehicle silhouette; editorial use may be permissible but verify with rights holder; likeness releases unknown.
Research search match: 1960s India mountain road travel footage, vintage Land Rover India 8mm, South Asia hill country home movie, 1962 India travel expedition.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other frames from this reel, then with 1960s India or South Asia travel home movies, then with mountain road or period 4x4 expedition footage.
