Illinois USA-1962: Historic Stone Building and Classic Cars with Elk in Woods

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary or archival requests for early 1960s Midwestern American urban streetscape and wildlife-preserve footage, usable as a period establishing shot or local-color insert.

Period detail

Early 1960s American automobiles including a turquoise sedan and a grey car in motion, a mid-century traffic direction sign, and a Gothic Revival stone building with crenellated towers consistent with a 1962 Illinois setting.

Home-movie behavior

Tourist or local resident filming a notable civic landmark from street level, then visiting a nearby park or wildlife area and capturing a large antlered cervid as an unscripted wildlife encounter.

What appears in frame

Gothic Revival stone building with crenellated towers, turquoise early-1960s sedan, grey car in motion blur, yellow traffic direction sign, bare deciduous trees, large antlered cervid in open woodland, leaf-covered ground.

Film character

8mm gauge with natural color grain and a slight cool shift in the woodland scenes; mild motion blur on passing cars; dark frame-edge masking visible at image borders consistent with the original film gate.

Edit role

Building shots function as period establishing cuts for a 1960s Midwestern urban setting; the woodland wildlife sequence offers a contemplative cutaway or pacing transition between harder urban scenes.

Historical context

The traffic sign's phrasing reflects mid-century American traffic engineering conventions; the Gothic Revival building may be a municipal, institutional, or ecclesiastical landmark whose identity warrants further research.

Research note

No persons are identifiable and license plates are not legible; the building's ownership and identity should be confirmed before asserting a specific landmark in broadcast contexts; wildlife footage carries no likeness concerns.
