Illinois USA-1962: Two Religious Mosaics With Blue Marble Frames Shown

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills 1960s American church interior requests; suitable as documentary insert or B-roll for mid-century Christian institutional subjects or religious architecture programs.

Period detail

Dark marble frames, gold tessellated mosaic backgrounds, and ashlar stone wall construction suggest mid-20th-century American church architecture; film stock color and grain are consistent with the stated 1962 date.

Home-movie behavior

Steady, deliberate framing suggests a church visitor methodically recording religious artwork for personal documentation, panning slowly between two mosaic panels.

What appears in frame

Two framed religious mosaics on a light ashlar stone wall; first shows standing and seated haloed figures on gold tesserae; second shows two haloed figures in white and blue robes; dark marble frames; visible 8mm grain.

Film character

8mm grain and warm color saturation give the gold mosaic backgrounds a luminous, aged quality; slight vignetting at frame edges is consistent with early-1960s consumer film stock.

Edit role

Functions as a contemplative insert or cutaway in documentaries on American Catholic heritage, mid-century church architecture, or postwar religious community life.

Historical context

Postwar American churches frequently commissioned interior mosaic programs; this footage may document an Illinois congregation during a period of active religious building in the 1950s–60s.

Research note

Mosaics are embedded architectural artworks; copyright in the original artwork design may persist depending on creation date and jurisdiction — verify with a rights attorney; no identifiable living persons appear.

Research search match

Researchers may search for 1960s church mosaic, Illinois religious architecture, vintage church interior 8mm, or mid-century American Christian artwork documentary.

Archive pairing path

Pair first with other frames from the same reel for continuity; then with 1960s Illinois church or religious interior footage; then with mid-century American religious documentary material.
