Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s 8mm home-movie pool footage for edits needing backyard swimming, youth recreation, summer play, or a brief comic splash moment.
Period detail: The metal pool ladder, simple bench or board, chain-link fence, and color 8mm look may show mid-century suburban recreation in Yonkers, New York.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an informal backyard pool stunt as a swimmer balances, flips backward, and lands with a splash from a home-movie viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a swimmer, blue pool water, metal ladder rails, a narrow bench or diving board, chain-link fencing, dark trees, and splash spray.
Film character: Blue-biased color, heavy grain, soft focus, gate edges, and slight exposure shifts give the short action the texture of scanned 8mm home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a quick summer insert, comic transition, recreational cutaway, or memory beat within a sequence about youth and swimming.
Historical context: The footage shows private leisure around a backyard pool, with the camera focused on motion and reaction rather than posed portraiture.
Research note: People are visible and likely not model-released; copyright, likeness, and any property considerations should be reviewed for the intended use.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1950s 8mm swimming pool, Yonkers backyard pool, kids jumping into water, vintage home movie diving, and summer splash footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel pool scenes, then other Yonkers or 1953 home movies, then broader 1950s swimming and summer recreation footage.
