Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s color home-movie pool footage for edits needing recreational swimming, summer leisure, or youth sports practice in Yonkers, New York.
Period detail: The footage may show midcentury swimwear and outdoor-pool recreation, with the 1953 Yonkers setting supported by the clip metadata rather than visible landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The swimmer is filmed close to the water during repeated strokes, giving the clip an informal home-movie view of active pool recreation.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue-green pool water, white swimwear, splashing arms, rippled sunlight, dark film borders, and a pool edge in one frame.
Film character: The 8mm color scan shows soft focus, visible grain, mild fading, gate edges, and handheld framing that give the short action archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, summer-memory beat, sports-practice cutaway, or transition between broader 1950s recreation scenes.
Historical context: The clip documents ordinary outdoor swimming as a leisure activity, without visible signage or landmarks to identify a specific facility.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; copyright, privacy, and any location permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s 8mm swimming pool, Yonkers home movie swimmer, vintage pool laps, and midcentury summer recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers footage, then broader pool, swimming, summer, or recreation material.
