Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s home-movie requests needing a brief leisure or swimming-pool insert from Yonkers, New York.
Period detail: The 8mm color footage and metadata place the scene in 1953, with no visible signs, landmarks, or fashion details to further identify the setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged poolside moment as a man holds the pool edge with his knees raised in the water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include turquoise pool water, a partially submerged man, arms on the pool edge, reflected skin tones, dark film borders, and a horizontal scratch line.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, splice-like frame division, and visible surface wear that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short cutaway, memory beat, or transitional insert for mid-century summer recreation or family leisure.
Historical context: The scene suggests private or community pool recreation in a mid-century home-movie context without enough visual evidence to identify the pool or people.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness and privacy review may be needed in addition to any copyright or source licensing checks.
Research search match: Searches for 1953 8mm swimming pool footage, Yonkers home movie pool scene, mid-century man in pool, or vintage summer leisure may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Yonkers 1953 footage, then broader 1950s swimming or summer leisure material.
