Girl In A Pool Swimming Forward Above And Underwater — Clip Details

A young girl in a dark swimsuit swims forward through clear blue pool water in this 8mm home movie from Yonkers, New York, 1953. Shot from above, the footage captures her gliding through the water, her arms moving in a freestyle stroke, with moments of her head breaking the surface and others submerged. The vintage film exhibits characteristic grain, slight color fading, and a soft focus, evoking a nostalgic, summertime memory. The water's surface ripples with light reflections, and the clip offers both above-water and underwater perspectives of the swimmer's movement.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s 8mm home-movie pool footage for requests needing childhood swimming, summer recreation, or domestic leisure inserts.
Period detail: The clip may show mid-century backyard or community pool recreation, with era suggested by the 1953 home-movie metadata and the soft color 8mm look.
Home-movie behavior: A girl swims toward and across the camera in an unstaged home-movie view, alternating between surface strokes and underwater movement.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, a dark swimsuit, rippling surface reflections, a swimmer's head and arms, underwater haze, and black film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has grainy 8mm texture, soft focus, blue-green color shift, uneven exposure, and brief contact-print framing typical of scanned home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a summer memory beat, childhood recreation cutaway, pool transition, or brief visual insert for family-life sequences.
Historical context: The scene documents ordinary leisure swimming in a pool, with visual emphasis on movement through water rather than identifiable setting or public event.
Research note: People and a visible face require likeness review, and the apparent child swimmer should be checked separately from copyright or source-film permissions.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1950s 8mm girl swimming pool, vintage home movie underwater swimmer, and Yonkers New York summer pool footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other Yonkers or 1953 family footage, then broader 1950s pool, swimming, and summer recreation clips.
