Girl In Bathing Suit Doing Breaststroke In Blue Swimming... — Clip Details

A young girl in a dark bathing suit swims the breaststroke in a blue-tiled pool, captured on 8mm film in 1953. Her arms extend forward in a synchronized motion while her legs kick beneath the water's surface. The footage shows her breathing technique as she surfaces, with ripples and reflections dancing across the turquoise water. Shot from above, the clip captures the fluid motion and natural grace of a youth swimmer in a classic home movie style, complete with authentic film grain and color fading typical of mid-century Super 8 footage.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests needing 1950s home-movie swimming pool footage, youth recreation, or a brief archival insert of a swimmer practicing breaststroke.
Period detail: The 8mm color look, dark one-piece bathing suit, and metadata-supported 1953 Yonkers setting place the scene in mid-century domestic recreation.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value as the swimmer moves through the pool while the camera watches from above rather than arranging a formal lesson or race.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, a swimmer in a dark bathing suit, extended arms, kicking legs, surface ripples, bubbles, and black film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm texture through soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, gate edges, and uneven exposure across the water surface.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short cutaway, memory beat, summer recreation insert, or transition within a sequence about childhood, swimming, or mid-century leisure.
Historical context: The scene reflects private or community pool recreation in a 1950s home-movie context without visible signage, landmarks, or identifiable public event markers.
Research note: People are visible and the swimmer appears young, so likeness and minor-status review may be needed even where copyright or location rights are handled separately.
Research search match: Search matches include 1950s 8mm swimming pool, girl doing breaststroke, youth swimmer home movie, Yonkers New York pool footage, and vintage summer recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1953 Yonkers material, then broader 1950s swimming, pool, and summer leisure footage.
