Three Swimmers Doing Freestyle In Swimming Pool — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1953, this vintage home movie captures three swimmers in a pool, executing freestyle strokes with energetic splashes. The footage, likely from Yonkers, New York, shows a young swimmer in a dark cap and swim trunks leading the others through the blue water. The grainy, slightly faded color and soft focus reflect the era’s amateur film quality, evoking a nostalgic, mid-century American recreational moment. The camera remains steady, observing the swimmers from the poolside as they move across the frame.

Archive Intelligence

Home-movie behavior: The swimmers appear unstaged as they move through freestyle laps while the camera watches from poolside.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue pool water, three swimmers, freestyle arm strokes, splashes, lane-like movement, and pool edge details.

Historical context: The clip shows organized or informal pool swimming as a visible part of postwar American recreational life without identifying a specific event.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personal rights review.
