Washington DC USA-1952: Footage Of The Water Fountains Outside Of The White House

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary and editorial requests for early-1950s Washington DC establishing shots, White House archive coverage, or mid-century American civic life sequences.

Period detail

The pale desaturated 8mm color palette and North Lawn fountain configuration appear consistent with an early-1950s tourist visit; the flag at the masthead and building state support the metadata date.

Home-movie behavior

Shot from outside the North Lawn perimeter by a visitor, the camera pans slowly across the facade and lingers on the fountain — the unhurried framing of someone recording a landmark for family memory.

What appears in frame

White House North Portico columns and triangular pediment, North Lawn fountain jets, manicured green lawn, clipped shrubs, American flag on masthead, pale overcast sky, 8mm film-strip borders, and at least one human figure on the grounds.

Film character

Cool blue-purple color cast, soft focus across all four frames, moderate grain, and visible 8mm sprocket borders create unmistakable mid-century amateur film texture.

Edit role

Works as an establishing insert or cutaway in 1950s American history documentaries, Eisenhower-era political segments, or Washington DC civic memory sequences.

Historical context

The North Lawn fountain configuration and building state appear consistent with the early-to-mid 1950s; precise dating within the decade would require archival cross-reference.

Research note

The White House is a public landmark with no building copyright concern, but at least one person is visible on the grounds — standard editorial-use review is advised for any identifiable figures.
