Nebraska USA-1958: Woman Carrying Bundle Down Porch Steps, Plowed Fields and Mountains

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves documentary and educational requests for mid-century rural American domestic life and agricultural landscape, particularly late-1950s Midwest farm settings.

Period detail

Woman's layered yellow shirt and dark cardigan, white clapboard farmhouse with decorative porch trim, and partial red vehicle are consistent with late-1950s rural American vernacular.

Home-movie behavior

Camera operator films a family member carrying out a routine domestic task with the casual, unposed quality of a personal record rather than a staged performance.

What appears in frame

White clapboard farmhouse, porch with turned columns, wooden ladder leaning against the wall, woman in yellow shirt descending steps, partially visible red vehicle, bare deciduous trees, plowed field with stubble rows, distant low hills under clear blue sky.

Film character

Warm Kodachrome-style color saturation typical of late-1950s 8mm stock, with visible grain, mild exposure shift between porch and landscape shots, and slight vignetting at frame edges.

Edit role

Porch sequence functions as a domestic insert or memory beat; the landscape shots cut naturally as rural establishing shots or transitional cutaways in a mid-century Americana sequence.

Historical context

The plowed field and modest farmhouse reflect the agricultural character of mid-century rural Nebraska; the domestic scene captures everyday household rhythms of late-1950s farm life.

Research note

A woman's face is visible in frames 0 and 1 and requires standard editorial likeness review; a second figure is partially visible on the porch. Copyright ownership should be verified with the submitting estate.
